As summer unfolds in the picturesque Niagara Region, many of us turn to the outdoors to enjoy the bounty of this area. Picking your own cherries is one of the most popular seasonal activities here!
Nestled between stunning vineyards and charming countryside, Niagara’s cherry orchards offer a delightful escape for fruit lovers and families alike. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, cherry picking is a must-try activity that promises fresh air, delicious fruit, and a memorable day out.
Cherries are usually ready in late June through to the end of July, depending on the variety. This gives you a few weeks and chances to get out to a few orchards to pick your own cherries this summer!
Here’s my guide to the top cherry picking spots in Niagara, where you can fill your baskets with the juiciest cherries and take part in this sweet summer adventure!
1. Parkway Orchards
Parkway Orchards in Niagara-on-the-Lake is a prime cherry picking location for those seeking outdoor fun and within close proximity to Niagara Falls and downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake! Be sure to check their website for cherry picking updates.
Depending on when you visit, you can also pick your own peaches here, too!

2. Mathias Farms
We LOVE coming to Mathias Farms in scenic Ridgeville, just a short drive from St. Catharines, Niagara Falls or Fonthill. They’re a family owned and operated fruit farm that offers pick your own as well as ready-picked fruit at their farm stand.
Mathias Farms offers other pick-your-own fruit if you visit during the same time as when cherries are ready. Be sure to grab some sour cherries while you’re here too – they are SO good!

3. Weiland’s Cherry Farm
Weiland Cherry Farm has been operating in the Fonthill area for over 50 years! If you’re visiting Niagara Falls, they’re just a quick 20 minute drive away. With over 3000 cherry trees on their property, there’s no shortage of cherries ready to pick.
Admission is $7/person over the age of 12 and they are a cash-only facility.

5. Cherry Avenue Farms
What better place to pick your own cherries than at a place named Cherry Avenue Farms? With over 200 years of family-run farming, this is the place to visit for a true farm experience!
Along with sweet cherries, you can also pick your own peaches, nectarines, apricots and pears depending on when you visit.

6. 20 Valley Harvest Farms
20 Valley Harvest Farms has over 1000 sweet and sour cherry trees on their 4th generation property in beautiful Jordan. They recommend checking their social media channels for updates prior to visiting.
Pair your experience with a visit to the Red Barn Farm Market or Upper Canada Cheese, just around the corner.

7. Smith Two Century Farms
Smith Two Century Farms has been family owned for six generations! Located in Grimsby, this pick-your-own farm offers sweet and sour cherries. Come back in August for peach picking!

8. Duffin Farms
Located in Welland, Duffin Farms has hundreds of cherry trees with sweet and sour cherries galore! It’s not as well-known as other farms, which means you will have your pick of trees!
You can also pick up freshly baked pies including peach, apple, and mixed fruit.

9. Metler Cherry Farm
Metler Cherry Farm is off the beaten path and much quieter than other farms, which makes it a great experience for families. You will find beautiful dark sweet cherries here.
Pair your cherry-picking experience with a visit to the Comfort Maple just down the street. It’s believed to the oldest sugar maple in all of Canada and estimated to be over 500 years old!

10. Hildreth Farms
Hildreth Farms in Beamsville has been serving the area for 4 generations across their 20 acres of land. It’s a great spot to come for sweet and sour cherries in the heart of Lincoln.
Be sure to stop at their farm market (located at 5529 Greenlane Ave) for all kinds of produce, flowers, canned jellies and jams, baked goods and more!
