Apple harvest begins in September and runs all the way through to the middle of November, depending on the weather and variety, so it gives you lots of opportunities to enjoy this family-fun fall activity.

1. Windwood Farms

Windwood Farms is a popular spot in Beamsville to go apple picking. Tucked away on the escarpment, there are over 15 varieties of apples grown on the property, giving you a great opportunity to try different types! You’ll also find plums and pears on-site as well. Don’t miss out trying their apple cider!

2. Silmaril Farms

Silmaril Farms in Grimsby is a family-friendly spot to go apple picking in the Niagara Region. You’ll find cute dwarf trees here, which means ladders aren’t needed to pick apples. 

Enjoy fresh-pressed apple cider and swing by their market for fresh farm eggs, artisanal chicken, and fresh produce.

Open Fridays – Sundays 10 am – 4 pm. Silmaril Farms recommends calling ahead of arriving to verify their hours, since weather conditions and varieties available will affect when (and what) you are able to pick. There is a pre-recorded message you can listen to.

If you’re looking to add to your fall experience, take a drive over to Beamer Memorial Conservation Area. There’s a flat, accessible 10 minute walk to one of the best spots to see the fall colours in Niagara!

3. Mathias Farms

Mathias Farms is well known throughout the Niagara Region for their PYO fruit picking! Only available by PYO, their apple varieties include Red Delicious and Golden Delicious (some of my favs!). This family-run fruit farm offers an abundance of fresh produce at their market while you’re here too.

Open weekends 10:00 am – dusk and weekdays 4:00 pm – dusk. Hours are subject to change based on the weather and availability, so it’s best to check conditions ahead of time.

4. Parkway Orchards

Nestled along the Niagara Parkway just a short drive from Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls is Parkway Orchards, a famous go-to spot for fruit picking in the area.

It’s a perfect location for some fall fun and provides scenic backdrops for photos. Stop by their market after for fresh produce, baked goods, and souvenirs!

5. Johnson Farm Country Market

Johnson Farm Country Market in Fonthill is a great choice for family-friendly apple picking and is easy to get to from Niagara Falls. They’re known for their quality produce and great prices. 

Visit the goats and stop by their market for other fresh produce, baked goods, apple cider, flowers, premade meals and more.
